Florida Virtual School
A statewide internet-based public school district delivering 200+ K-12 courses online with flexible pacing, plus virtual school and curriculum solutions for districts nationwide.
Florida Virtual School (FLVS) is the nation's first statewide internet-based public school district. Founded in 1997, it delivers Kindergarten-12 education online, with more than 200 courses available through a platform offering 24/7 access. In the 2024-25 school year the school served more than 250,000 students, and it has spent over 25 years at the front of K-12 online education.
Its course catalogue covers NCAA-approved core curriculum, electives, Advanced Placement, world languages and career and technical education, delivered through both Full-Time and Flex options. Instruction is personalised and flexible in pace, with one-to-one support and live teaching from Florida-certified teachers. The school's stated approach is that learning should not be confined to traditional classrooms or rigid schedules, and that geography should not limit educational opportunity.
Beyond its own students, FLVS extends its work nationwide. FlexPoint Virtual School provides virtual school solutions to schools and districts across the United States, while the organisation also licenses its digital curriculum and offers digital learning labs to partner schools and districts. Technical work spans an online learning platform, digital learning solutions, instructional technology, curriculum development and virtual and blended learning.
