THE ROLE: The Workforce Readiness Specialist coordinates and supports Scholar Career Coaching's Beyond the Cap: Workforce Development Program, designed to help first generation college students gain hands-on career experience and meaningful professional opportunities while pursuing their college education. This position oversees student recruitment and onboarding, employer engagement, paid micro internship opportunities, career development activities, and participant progress throughout the program year. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruit, screen, onboard, and support students participating in the Beyond the Cap program.

  • Recruit and engage businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations to participate as employer partners.

  • Build and maintain relationships with employer partners and identify micro internships, longer term internship, and employment opportunities for students.

  • Coordinate student participation in paid micro internships through Scholar CC's partnership.

  • Introduce students to the workforce platform and support students with navigating and applying for available projects.

  • Provide career readiness support, including resume development, LinkedIn profiles, interview preparation, and professional communication.

  • Conduct regular student check ins and provide individualized support throughout their participation in the program.

  • Monitor and track student applications, project participation, paid work experiences, employer feedback, and key program outcomes.

  • Coordinate virtual career development workshops, employer presentations, and networking opportunities throughout the program year.

  • Administer program surveys and maintain accurate documentation for grant reporting and program evaluation.

  • Coordinate the Beyond the Cap Career Mixer, career networking, or other recognition activities.

  • Represent Scholar Career Coaching at employer meetings, community events, and workforce development activities as needed.

  • Perform other related duties and assist with projects that support Scholar CC's mission.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in workforce development, career services, employer relations, human resources, talent acquisition, higher education, nonprofit programming, or a related field.

  • Experience working with college students, emerging professionals, or first generation students is preferred.

  • Experience developing relationships with employers or community partners is strongly preferred.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and relationship building skills.

  • Ability to effectively engage and motivate college students and emerging professionals.

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with employers and community partners.

  • Understanding of career readiness, professional development, and workplace expectations.

  • Strong follow through and a demonstrated track record of dependability, responsiveness, punctuality, and meeting deadlines.

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, data management systems, and other tech tools.

  • Comfortable learning and navigating online career and workforce platforms.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for occasional meetings and events throughout Palm Beach and Broward Counties.
