iMentor

iMentor is a non-profit that pairs first-generation high school students with college-educated mentors to support graduation, college success, and career readiness.

iMentor is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1999 with the mission of empowering first-generation students to graduate high school, succeed in college and career, and achieve their ambitions. The organization operates direct-service mentoring programs in New York City, Chicago, the Bay Area, and Baltimore, serving more than 10,000 students across 51 partner schools.

At the core of iMentor's model is its Mentoring Program, which matches every 11th and 12th grade student in partner high schools with a college-educated mentor who commits to a single student over a two-year period. The program is supported by a research-based College Success Curriculum that provides structure for mentors and students to develop close personal relationships. Since its founding, iMentor has matched more than 35,948 students with mentors.

The organization's full-time staff are trained as college counselors, reflecting a focus on educational opportunity and a belief that every student deserves the chance to reach their potential. iMentor operates in the education and non-profit sectors.
